Nikolaj works as a principal in the Innovation department of BII. He serves as an anchor for some of the Bio Studio projects, aiding the teams in all the different aspects of the start-up experience together with the rest of the BII. He is also responsible for managing the Bio Studio portfolio. Nikolaj has a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Copenhagen and has worked in academic groups studying lipid biology both in Molecular Plant Biology and Oncology.

Prior to joining BII, he worked for 9 years with rare lysosomal and neurodegenerative diseases in a danish startup company, Orphazyme. Here he was working with basic non-clinical research, managing scientists and technicians, collaborations with academic laboratories, writing regulatory documents, and translating basic research to commercial communication.
