Johanna looks after BII’s Women’s Health Initiative. This includes strategy development, network building, scouting, due diligence, and project support across BII’s programs to help facilitate innovation specifically in this underserved area with huge unmet needs.
Johanna hails from Estonia and is a scientist by training. She studied microbial physiology at the University of Tartu for her MSc, holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Heidelberg, and has extensive postdoctoral experience from the Francis Crick and Cancer Research UK London Research Institutes. She joined BII from the Wellcome Trust where she managed their cell biology, biomedical resources, and technology development portfolio.
