The Business Acceleration Academy is right now open for applicants for the spring run of 2020. During the three months long program, the accepted teams put together a strong, initial business plan for their start-up with help from the BII team, business mentors and subject matter experts.
Senior Business Developer, Monika Luniewska Jensen, is running the program for the fourth time this spring and we asked her a few questions about why start-ups should apply.
What does BAA offer the start-ups?
The short answer is resources and expertise. Alongside the program and in-kind services valued at DKK 375.000, each team will have up to DKK 200.000 for progression related costs such as additional consultancy and customer visits. BII also grants up to DKK 250.000 to cover salaries for the team and if the team is based on Funen or in Jutland, there is an additional relocation grant of up to DKK 100.000.
To support the teams during the program, we bring in experts to help them with the various topics we go through such as IP and regulatory, market and customer, budget and financing and much more. Alongside the scheduled program, the companies can free of charge set up one-to-one sessions with BII’s network: Plesner, Innovayt, ALK, Novo Nordisk, Zacco, PwC, Novo Seeds and Anja Bach.
What does daily life look like for the teams in the program?
They spend their days here at BII to work closely with the BII team, each other and the network we provide. There are classes two days every week to give a general introduction to the different topics and in the following days, the teams work hands-on with support from experts and their anchor in the BII team.
What is the most valuable thing the teams gain from the program?
There are two main things: Mindset and momentum. The teams come from an academic background and often they don’t think business. It’s a groundbreaking moment for many of them when they discover new perspectives. Another important gain is momentum. During those intense three months, they get so many inputs and leads that they by the end of the program have about six months’ work ahead of them to process and build their case.
