BII awards eight life science projects the Proof of Concept grant

Eight life science projects with commercial potential have been awarded the Proof of Concept grant of up to DKK 1M per project by BioInnovation Institute. The total awarded amount between the projects is DKK 7.5M.

BII works to bring research out of the lab and into the economy and the Proof of Concept grant is available to projects that have a clear commercial focus. The projects that are accepted in the 12 months long program work at their current institution or workplace for one year to establish the preliminary proof of concept of their research.

More than 70 projects applied for the program and the BII board of directors has been the supported by a selection committee of life science researchers, investors, experts and key opinion leaders in choosing the most promising projects.

– The very high quality of research amongst the applying projects put our selection committee to a difficult task. Proof of Concept is the first step towards commercializing research and the many qualified projects clearly show that there is an increasing interest in life science entrepreneurship, says Hervør Lykke Olsen, scientific advisor at BII.

She adds that the strong field of applicants came from all the Danish universities.

If you are ready to establish the preliminary proof of concept of your project and if your research has commercial potential, BioInnovation Institute is right now looking for applications from medtech, biotech and pharma projects. Apply before January 24.

Congratulations to the projects!
