5 reasons to apply for the PreSeed program

June 4, 2020, is the final call for applications for the PreSeed program at BioInnovation Institute. Academic research projects with commercial potential and early-stage start-ups have the opportunity to join the program with funding of up to DKK 3.5M.

The program is eligible for projects from the Nordics and start-ups that will set up a Danish company registration within the fields of therapeutics, bio industrials and health tech. There is a strong technical focus in the program, but also commercial support to develop a strong case that attracts further funding from the life science ecosystem.

Read our interview with one of the projects in the program or check out below what Giles Dudley, Senior Business Developer at BII, said when we asked him for five reasons to apply for the PreSeed program:

Global network. BioInnovation Institute has a strong, global network amongst investors, corporates, research institutions and start-ups. As part of the program, we will help you get introduced to relevant people in the ecosystem.

Business development. To successfully commercialize it is important to work with the business side of your technology from early on. At BioInnovation Institute, you will work with the experienced business development team and our expert partners in areas such as IP and legal.

Facilities and community. As a research project, you will work from your host institution, but as a start-up, you will be able to relocate to BioInnovation Institute’s facilities in Copenhagen. We offer a vibrant environment where start-ups in therapeutics, bio industrials and health tech work side by side and draw on each other’s experiences.

Flexible program. The program gives university projects a unique opportunity to explore the entrepreneurial path while still being part of the academic institution. It allows projects to focus on strengthening their technology and applying business knowledge without leaving the academic environment.

Milestone plan. With help from the BII team, you will develop a milestone plan for the length of the program to help you layout the exact steps you need to take to advance your project or start-up towards commercialization.
