Eligibility
Principal Investigators with strong academic track record and an entrepreneurial mindset and min. 3 years' experience as independent group leader.
Team Composition
Project team is hired at BII. An Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) drives company creation while the PI remains at their home institution as scientific advisor. A Lead Scientist may transfer from PI’s group to the newly formed project team.
Program support
Access to BII’s acceleration platform, networks within industry and investment, and community events. Dedicated BII anchor appointed to support and guide project.
Funding
Up to DKK 5.35M (EUR ~0.72M) per year for up to three years. Access to in-kind support.
Intellectual Property (IP)
Existing IP is not required. Any project-related IP must be licensable to the future spin-out company on market terms.
Company Creation Timeline
Spin-out is usually formed after 2 years, and it remains in program until the end of year 3.
Application Frequency
Challenge calls twice a year. Expected deadlines: May and December.
