BII is designed to meet most needs of a research-based start-up. We have visited and sought inspiration from internationally-renowned accelerators, incubators, and translation hubs around the world. Our state of the art laboratories play a major role in making BII a beacon of translational research in Europe.
The BII facilities
State of the art
When you rent a lab-bench at BII, we will support your work. You get a personal bench, with basic laboratory commodities and you also benefit from our support plan with no extra costs. Among others, the support plan includes:
- Full Waste management
- Access to basic laboratory gases, ice, dry-ice and different purities of water
- A broad range of plastic consumables and glassware
- Autoclaving and dishwashing as service
- Labcoat and protection gear
- Cryo and freezer storage space
Planning to work on genetically modified organisms?
If you plan to do work on genetically modified organisms, we advise you to report this to Arbejdstilsynet (Danish workplace safety authority) before you start your work at BII. In this way you will save valuable time. Contact the Head of Facilities Bo Heinemann for help on this topic.

Laboratory equipment
We have a lot of basic equipment (pipettes, incubators, shakers, microscopes, centrifuges, LAF benches, fumehoods, pH meters, … you name it), and we also have some specialized equipment as listed below. The equipment selection is always developed together with the users. If you require equipment that we do not offer, please contact Head of Facilities Bo Heinemann to see if we can acquire the equipment.
